Repertory Help

❓What is a Rubric in Homeopathy?

A rubric is a category or heading in a repertory that describes a specific symptom. It can also represents how a symptom appears, not just what the symptom is.

Think of it as the bridge between your client’s words and the remedies that might help.

Symptoms indexed into a repertory - an organized system/ structure so they can be searched, to identify remedies that come up in the symptom picture.

🔍 Example: Client says:

“I always feel worse when I’m alone.”

That might lead you to the rubrics:

👉🏼 Mind, company, desire for, amel or 👉🏼 Mind, company, desire for, alone agg; when

Or… Client says:

“The headache gets worse when I move around.”

That becomes: 👉 Head, pain, motion, agg.

🧠 A rubric helps you:

• Translate real language into repertory terms

• Navigate the repertory structure

• Match symptoms to remedies with more precision

There are rubrics for everything - from “weeping during urination” to “aggravation in the stomach from frozen food.” And learning to use them well is what takes you from guessing → to confident prescribing.
